So many buttons and switches! *implodes*

Here I am trying to get my head around the D90 and all it's buttons simply by reading a manual before the camera arrives today. That thing looks like a control on the death star.

Most of the controls are redundant controls. Nikon tends to externalize and duplicate functions on the outside rather then screen control.

But ISO 102,400? I mean really.

ISO is the new megapixels.

it means you can shoot in the dark, sometimes that's nice, sometimes when there is less light, the light itself is not at all good... this is good for nature and wedding and sports and journalism, but not so useful for advertising and product shots, most of which are done at 100 ISO, often with lots of lights to get a certain look.. high ISO wouldn't make much difference except maybe less heavy gear to carry up the stairs....

finally a camera the average coal miner can use at work. about fucking time eh.

side note::: what's with Nikons obsession with the DX (cropped) format??? It's like shooting on 16mm for fucks sake. Only alternatives are beasts like this D3 or jumping ship to canon.
- They have only just started makin their own sensors. Give it some time.slappy

Somewhat related, but I've just been getting to know my new D90 tonight, albeit inside my apartment, but damn I am so excited to have this camera! Been using a Panasonic Lumix TZ1 5MP point and shoot since 2006 as my only camera. It's a great camera in good light, with a 35mm-350mm range.
But I'm so impressed by this Nikon. Been wanting to upgrade for the entire year and just ordered it last week.
Got a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 lense, and a Nikon 50mm f1.8. The Tamron is making me drool over the wider angle than I'm used to - it's kind of freaking me out to pull my eye away and realize, "oh, shit, that's alot closer than it looks!" Ha

One more thing - I am loosing my mind at how quickly the Extreme III SDHC cards transfer. This is insane.

@mg33 How is that camera bag working out for ya? I'm in the market for one myself, one that can hold my mbp as well as my 5D2 + lenses/accessories

Too bad you look like a nerd with it...

Why would Nikon create such an expensive camera, and include video that's only 720p? I'd rather have no video, and a cheaper price.
