Worried about spending so much money on a laptop. What does everyone else reckon

Wait a little bit, the white one is getting re-released soon for about $800, new smaller form factor...
- ismith0
Definitely wait, they should be refreshing very soon. Otherwise, if you need it then go for it. Try it first in an Apple store if you can to make sure it will run whatever you need it to.

Cheers for the comments I will wait it out

I have one hooked up to an external LCD. The 1280x800 screen is too small to do any work.
Buy from Apple refurb store btw. And wait for updates, this is the time of the year Apple introduces new stuff.

Just bought my mrs one... loves it...

- in other words, don't buy yet.Jordy
- Because rumours are always true, right?monospaced

I don't know why no one has mentioned this yet, but I would wait a little while. They are going to refresh the range soon.

According to NONEIS, ismith, raf, Jordy and Raniator — who all work at Apple and know all of their future product releases — you should wait. Oh wait, they don't know shit.
- oh please, they always, ALWAYS refresh at this time of year after they've sold their stock of back-to-school itemsismith
- It'll be the models they plan to sell over Christmas, since there hasn't been a big update in a while.ismith
- But I'm sure you know this, just givin' us piss for it. Would be silly to wait forever, but right now is refresh season...ismith

Apple is coming out with a netbook for $800?
- Yeah, they always release this kind of info via rumor sites, and it's 100% reliable information. Duh!monospaced
- Netbook isn't due until January I heard, but $700-800 sounds reasonable.ismith
- Why doesn't ceiling_cat dwell in Steve Jobs' office for a couple days?ismith

i wanna spend about £900 so I only have the option for the 13" mbp and I don't want a refurb. If i'm buying something for that much I want it brand new!
- absolutely no difference cosmetically - and has been reworked, usually prove to be more reliable w/ full warrantybulletfactory

for those netbook rumours, there is no reliable information to say that it is gonna be a netbook or an ebook type reader (tablet). could be either.

you get what you pay for, weak will be... well, weak, powerful will be productive. how interested are you in investing in a tool for working vs a toy for messing around?
