I hope this is a decent remake.
The originals are classics and even though the effects werent amazing the films still did the job. I can remember being shit scared of these films when I was wee.

I'm sure this version will be bloody as fuck. From the trailer, they are definitely doing the girl-being-thrown-around-the-roo... death scene, and that was pretty bloody in the original. You know they are going to step it up. And I'm itching to see what the do (if they are sticking faithfully to the original) with Johnny Depp's death scene from the original, where his bed sucked him in and puked up a nasty geyser of gore. I love the first two growing up, and I really enjoyed the first Texas Chainsaw remake. Friday, not so much. Amitiyville wasn't bad. And not related to Platinum Dunes, but the 2006 remake of The Hills Have Eyes is nothing short of amazing.
So, yeah, I'll probably check it out.

I'll agree that most of the recent remakes have been very hit or miss. Still, I can't help get a little excited when I hear about them. Granted today's screenwriters and production values can sometimes ruin what was an otherwise good idea, I still have hope for a few of them. This one already looks good.
