A lot of classical stuff is good but it's important to remember to listen to stuff you like too. My boy heard a lot of Tom Waits before he was born and he's happy to sing along in the car to him now. Lately though, it's a lot of Thunderbirds and Stingray theme tunes he likes to hear...

Cinematic Orchestra is dope and really helps the kid unwind. He's also fallen asleep to the sound of me beatboxing. He is starting to try and imitate the sounds with his mouth now, so that doesn't work for sleeping anymore. Check out some Maurizio or Gas for that ambient sound; but infused with beats for subconscious rhythm development.

Medeski Martin & Wood "Let's Go Everywhere" is a pretty sweet album, especially for post-toddlers, I'd think. Still, those zany grooves probably sound even deeper from from inside the womb. A bit like sonic Dr. Suess in it's playful exuberance.

We tried doing the whole playing classical music thing and reading to the bump and then we kind of dropped off doing it. I think it's also good to try talking to the bump if you don't find it too difficult.
If that fails and, like me, you don't like classical music you could always try these for something a bit different. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rockabye…
