I need to build a splash page for a client while we work on the full site.
I don't want to overdo it, but I do want it to be fun (not just logo and coming soon).
Does anyone have any good examples of these sorts of pages?

Splash pages are masturbation, they irritate and slow down everyone else apart from the few involved in their creation. Simple web rule, no value add = no value at all.
