Did you arrive there eventually detritus? I didn't get a chance to get on QBN earlier that day... It would have been a pity if you had come and we wouldn't have a drink together.
The lecture was definitely worth going to. Spiekermann was introduced as someone who "cursed very well in English". He didn't do much of that, but proved to be a captivating speaker with a sharp sense of humour. He spoke about wayfinding systems and its relation to time and place.
Then there was Tim Fendley http://www.appliedinformationgro… talking about new city maps he had been introducing in the UK (Legible City). He showed some of the conclusions of their studies about how people perceived and brain-mapped city spaces and walking/commuting distances. Then went on to show us the result in maps: print, city-stands and mobile apps.
Typically for this kind of events both of them spoke about their own work and companies (in other words, 99% self pimping), but that was what we came there for and they were nonetheless very informative and most of all inspiring.
It was a pleasure to meet ribit again during the reception that followed, wine provided by London College of Communication. I managed to have a small chat with Spiekermann, just so I could secure years of unintentional name dropping.

OK, so I'm *hoping* to attend, and have a booking - though something's cropped up that might intrude.
If I do attend - how will I recognise you lot? Are you guys in any of the Mugs threads? Printable QBN badges (old skool pink, of course)?

Not sure if there are any seats left (ask moth for his if he's not going, heh) but looks like this is pretty much turning into QBN drinks after the event.
Monday bump

I never understood why his stealing sheep book was so critically acclaimed. It's pretty much common sense right?

OK, it's mini London Drinks after the Thursday event.
The lecture takes place in London College of Communication,
Elephant & Castle.
Could Londoners suggest a pub nearby? My only contact so far is to look for ribit's face at the lecture..

he's a co.ck... any clod who outright defames helvetica like he's done deserves a swift kick in the melon, even HFJ have some love for the typeface... whatever, suppose he's just making statements looking for attention...
- fucka meta...neue75_bold
- That's a bold err.. heavy condensed statementraf
- he wanted to be the one guy in the film who had no 'wiggle room' in his fragile little mind...neue75_bold
- since when did stating your opinion make you an idiot, especially if you can back it up. Ia Helvetica really all that? No. Its a good face, but get real.evanmade
- HJF have said they're glad nobody has ever asked them to design a better helvetica... and yes, it is all that...neue75_bold
- he's an arrogant cock, plain and simple every time I have heard him speak.. but hey, it's personal, if I even remotely likedneue75_bold
- liked anything he has done, I'd not think so poorly of him..neue75_bold
- he's a sensationalist..neue75_bold
- he is, should be ein fun lectureraf
