"For example (and probably the most obvious) transparency in illustrator without having to use frikkin masks"
are you talking about placed photoshop files not being transparent?
- jtb260
put screen mode back in the bottom of the tool bar where its always been.
And somehow i can't get it back to grey - it's ALWAYS black now and I'm not sure how I got it that way.
- full screen border? select a colour then use the fill bucket on itBIGGESTDOGINTHEWORLD
- hit f, then right click the blackProjectile

> For example (and probably the most obvious) transparency in illustrator without having to use frikkin masks
eh? come again? are you talking vectors or placed images. never had to create a mask for transp with vectors, and placed psd's work for transparent BG's in images.
> In illustrator, the ability to paste inside another object (not mask.. as if you mask a massive object it still gets in the way all the time)
eh? come again, again? are you talking compound paths? direct select an object in a group or compound path, select "paste in front/behind" and it will paste inside the object.
or mb i'm not understand your definition of "mask".. ?
- no im talking about having a gradient from opaque to transparent.. and masking an image inside a shapeProjectile

i dunno, i think all the complaints here about AI are just people needing to know the INs and OUTs.
my only request with AI would be autosave, but I have also read that there is a very legitimate reason why its doable in ID but not possible with AI and PS.

I'll write this again: if two brothers can write an app like www.pixelmator.com and sell it cheaply, there is a lot of room in the market to fill in.
Photoshop lacks web-specific features. CSS-type margins for boxes. Web-looking text background color fills. Browser/OS - looking type. There is more..
The niche is gigantic and I hope there are more Lithuanian brothers writing new Pixelmators right now to challenge PS just like Coda and the likes challenged DW. It's only a matter of time.
- Use Fireworks is you need to address web-specific features.poomoo

Flash CS4 is the worst.
- I half agree. It's terribly unstable but they upgraded graphic and animation features for the first time ever.CyBrain
- they ruined the animation, that new system is a fucking jokeBIGGESTDOGINTHEWORLD

It should all just be one program, and it should only cost $37 for updates.

I wish people would RTFM's and then Adobe might take lists like this seriously

I'd love a bare bones photoshop for web design. You could ditch 95% of filters/styles/effects. I just want the fastest possible environment for rapid design.

***Better raw processing in Camera Raw (and lightroom).***
Figure out an algorithm that gets rid of bayer pattern artifacts the way Capture One does with high iso files. Making the output look more like film grain instead of a cross-hatched nightmare. This is the one thing that stops me from using Lightroom for everything.

on the macromedia note - to reiterate:
http://www.freefreehand.org
support would be cool.Adobe is just another corporation more concerned with money than actual end use... and shitting out yet another expensive product every year that doesn't need all the extra glitter doesn't justify killing an already great product.

put smart guides back to the way they used to be in CS3!
- forcetwelve0
for those of you that are frustrated with the new smart guides - to get the CS3 snapping functioanlity back - you now need to hold the command key whilst moving objects. see the comments in this blog.

Every time I read about Fireworks' web design features I open it and look for them. I cannot see any and it's so slow compared to PS on my computer it's not really usable. I can open the same document in PS at the same time and be able to work on it without hiccup.
What is it that FW has for web and I can't see? It keeps rounded corners intact while transforming, ok. What else? There were threads on it recently but I don't think there was a definite conclusion other than lots of people use it.
