Do You Drink ?
I am only curious ever since I have gone freelance seems like I am drinking 2-3 pots to maintain a stable energy level. I never use to be this way, but it seems that's the only way to keep the energy level up. It's pretty much crude oil.
I jog every once in while, eat fairly well, and take vitamins, lalala. Sleep about 5-6 hours a night.

One big cup after lunch.

1-2 cups in the morning, and then a 3rd if I am working from home that day. If at office, I'll get a venti from Starbucks mid morning, and periodically reheat and nurse it over the course of the day.

2 cups a day and 2 mugs a day. I'm thinking about 50 ounces. Yuck.

I can't do energy drinks ... I have about 2-3 hours and freaking flatline it's a hard crash for me.

one large coffee in the morning.
If you need to keep drinking coffee for 'energy' you are doing something wrong. Sounds like you need more sleep and food that fuels your body better.

The coffee dehydrating you is a myth. Not true for anyone who cares.
- caffeine is a diuretic. It is, in fact, dehydrating.baseline_shift
- But remember coffee is 99% water. This is a myth, I speak the truth.designbot
- depends on how much caffeine is in the coffee and how strong it is. i piss my brains out after a cup.baseline_shift

Caffeine makes you expel water.baseline_shift - it makes you urinate more frequently...doesn't mean you are dehydrated though..read below.designbot

the coffee dehydration myth:
“While there have been several studies done that show caffeine is a mild diuretic, there is no evidence that exercise, when combined with the consumption of caffeine or caffeinated beverages, will result in chronic dehydration, and this is contrary to the advice of most exercise physiologists, physicians and dietitians,” explains Armstrong, who has conducted fluid balance research since 1980.
Supporting Armstrong’s findings is an American Journal of Physiology August 2002 review of the literature on hydration by Dr. Heinz Valtin that cites a University of Nebraska study, which found that caffeinated beverages may be counted toward the daily fluid total.
Armstrong’s analysis of the scientific literature that was focused on moderate amounts of caffeine (equivalent to one to four cups of coffee a day) indicates:
* When consuming a caffeinated beverage, the body retains some of the fluid.
* Moderate caffeine consumption causes a mild diuresis very similar to that of water (water, when consumed in large volume, increases urine output).
* A person who regularly consumes caffeine has a higher tolerance to the diuretic effect.
* There is no evidence that consumption of caffeinated beverages causes a fluid-electrolyte imbalance that is detrimental to health or exercise performance.- i dont buy it entirely. This article says that there is no evidence that states that caffeine will lead to chronic dehydration.baseline_shift
- not that it isnt, in fact, dehydrating.baseline_shift
- search the net, you'll find lots more info to corroborate this. I've done alot of research on caffeine and coffee...college and otherwise.designbot
- otherwise. It's all good though, you still drink coffee :)designbot
- ha, truth. Everything in moderation, right?baseline_shift
- for sure :)designbot

2 pots for me over the day. regarding engery level, i think you build up caffeine tolerance over time, at some point it doesn´t kick anymore. probably more placebo/habit the energy thang. once spent 2 days drinking decaf until i realized the mix-up, didn´t make a noticable difference for energy level.

Maybe it won't dehydrate you to death, but common sense tells me it does a little.
Drink 3 cups of coffee then a glass of water and you will agree;)
- Drink coffee all day and no water, you'll defintely feel like a dry sponge.harlequino
- this is what i was getting at. I drink a big cup, piss my brains out, and then feel thirsty.baseline_shift
