Hi all,
I have always created web graphics at 72ppi, a client has just said the images are a little low quality and that I should save them at 96ppi.
Did a quick search and PC monitors display at 96, mac at 72. Should I be creating em at 96?
Thanks

72 dpi is standard screen resolution.

DPI doesn't matter on screen, it's only for printing. If you have a 100 pixel image at 72dpi and the same image at 96dpi they will both show the same size on screen. 1 pixel in the image = 1 pixel on the screen.
Things change when you print though. The 96dpi image will print smaller as there are more pixels per inch on the printed page.

Dont explain it to them, jesus, a little knowledge is a bad thing. just ask for a meeting, and when you go in kick the client off their chair onto the ground and shout 'JUST FUCKING LET ME DO MY JOB, YOU DONKEY'S PISS FLAP', punch them as hard as you can in the throat and walk out.
Don't take any guff from these swine.

Now that this thread is 3 yrs old....
I'm Working with a Screen resolution 169ppi...Do i still design in 72dpi?
- orrinward20
Yes. Unless you're printing mocks that are meant to be to scale. In which case print at 169ppi, or closest equivalent.

Someone showed me a live brief the other day, D&AD perhaps. Submit at web quality 150dpi it said. Thought that was pretty odd.

I think we should get DPI and PPI right first.
