Any kind I would say, or even in medical / scientific UI.

where´s the distinction there, graphs?

- between financial vs medical / scientific?********
- no, between "UI" and "financial UI / medical UI"********
- it´s just about communicating and usability, no? don´t see why a particular industry would make a difference.********
- ...in regard to the UI guy...********

"between "UI" and "financial UI / medical UI""
Good question.
UI is UI but with specialization such as financial or medical / scientific, the UI person tends to either be interested or want to learn more about the subject matter. While most designers can design for any use, some complex process / workflow can be properly visualized if subject matter is understood.
- ideally, yes, if a workflow can be created from scratch, definitely********
- Not even from scratch but more about understanding the existing workflow.********

i did UI for several complex web-based apps, just finished an app for high volume online-ad contracting + delivery, for internal use. workflow was given, much of the structure/hierarchy was set b/c of demands of 3rd party systems that the app is wired too.
worked 8 months on the thing, yet i still haven´t understood some of the underlying nested hierarchies, hehe. crazy. but works fine.
- But you understood how it works?********
- and no one outside the company will ever see the app? how does that make you feel?Pupsipu
- Who cares if no one outside the company sees it.********
- the ad agencies who build the banners see it + the client´s internal teams. actually an easier audience than general public. pros...********
- Done a bunch of internal-use DAM and PM UIs for various clients.********
- less bullshit/brand, more functionality, ease of use, smooth workflow and that. good thing.********
- but it's not making the world a better place if your designs are locked into these corporate monasteries. designs must be freeePupsipu
- designs must be freee! let them go out into the wild blue yonder.Pupsipu

No not interaction design.
A designer who designs with out understanding what they are designing tends to fail in communicating the message. A wireframe is a guide and not how it should be laid out.

- These are nice but I would consider them simple financial which is consumer facing.********

portfolio.com had 3 studios makeover the bloomberg interface a year ago or so, one of them was an interesting shot at first glance. don´t know how deep the re-design actually was, were 2 screenshots on a custom dual-display rig.

I saw that but all the concepts are unrealistic as they didnt understand the underlying work flow of the terminal and the people who use it.

Been working on a project for about a year now in that market.

I used to work for a large financial company. Up until a year ago people wouldn't get why I kept telling I worked for a professional gambling company. Now they kind of do...
