Wasn't the Sunami caused by Subduction? Which has nothing to do with 'environmental issues' and therefore not as a result of mankind? There might be a slight flaw in that video...

looks like it was DDB brazil _

it actually snagged an award at the one show (probably the reason it was created in the first place—to catch awards).

good for the oneclub to defend itself, and put an end to that.

The message itself is fairly ridiculous. Basically it's telling you that mother nature is powerful so you need to respect it and conserve it. But why the fuck would I want to respect and conserve mother nature if I'm being told that she could strike at any moment and wipe out hundreds of thousands of people? It appears that these disasters will happen regardless of conservation so fuck it. I doubt any vegetarians or sustainability gurus were spared (or would have been spared) on that beach when the tsunami hit.
*insert George Carlin clip here.

by the way, I'm all for doing my part, be it so small, to respect the environment and conserve when I can. It's when people try to spoon feed me bullshit with a poor message that I get upset, regardless of this being done for spec or awards sake. It's the same as religion. Don't tell me I was put on this planet to worship anyone/being.

^ that's really all it comes down to. sensitivity/insensitivity... had they compared it to some distant historical event, or even a biblical tale such as the great flood, many wouldn't be as offended, as there's no emotional attachment to those events. but 911 being more recent and given technology's ability to "remind" us, and you have a truley sensationalized event where lost lives demand more respect than this video shows. whether or not it knowingly made its point with such carelessness is irrelevent. it only takes a bit of forethought and a human heart to know what's right and wrong, and this was clearly wrong.
i'm not personally offended. it takes quite a bit to do so, but as any good person, i think it's important to take the feelings of others into consideration before stepping on them to broadcast our own. just my thoughts..

"hey guys, listen: We havent had any new clients in ages, and we're just sitting here playing minesweeper. Why dont we do something to make a name for ourselves? Some pro bono work which is the only way any agency ever wins an award"
"Sure.. but let's have a line and a spliff first"
*snort.. tweet.. snort...*
"i've got it!! i've fucking got it!! OK they'll LOVE this......."

The idea isn't that crazy - 'what are we most at risk from? Terrorism or global catastrophe?' It assumes that you take it for granted that it's human activity that's causing the rise in natural disasters.. but as long as you agree with that it makes sense.
The execution is very poor. Makes out that being subordinate to 'natures power' is the best course of action - doesn't make any association between cause and effect.
The thing I find most shocking is the reaction that some people feel it's in bad taste. Sure, it's referring to an undeniably awful event - but all of us in the west have it easy compared many countries subject to genocide, war and daily terrorist attacks.
