right - I have been designing a pop up banner for a client (dimensions 850mm x 2000mm), the psd file was 315Mb. I have just saved it as a pdf, full quality etc etc and now the file is 2.8 Mb?
I have checked the resolution & settings & everything appears to be fineThis cant be right?

If there is a lot of continuous tone in there it will be very small indeed. Variation is what pumps up the volume.
- i thought elvis costello was responsible for pumping it up?7point34
- when you don't even need it7point34
- Common misconception - Christian Slater actually pumps up the volume.bulletfactory
- so who pumps up the jam?Amicus

Just out of interest, why are you designing a pop-up banner (which to my naive mind is a bit of internet nonsense at 72dpi and no wider than a screen) at 2metres wide?

There ARE all sorts of data in a PD that have jack shit to do with the file size of a flattened version. When you go to PDF, it drops it all, this CAN be right.
What compressor did you use? Full quality or not, if you chose JPG compression it would drop like a rock and still look pretty decent...
