Better, but still has a long way to go.
- Read up on grid systems and wireframing.
- Read up on typography for the web.
- Focus firmly on user needs rather than "flashy" presentation.
- Keep it simple, stupid.

After having a peek at your portfolio site, I'd like to add one more tip for you:
- Lay off the Photoshop tutorial style graphics. They're for learning and having fun, not for commercial work.
- hubb7designs0
@doctor: Thanks for the advice, I know that I have a long way to go to create really nice corporate designs.
@rson and d_rek: I'm confused on what you guys are talking about regarding my bio. Do you think that I'm full of shit? Because the story is true, the attitude is real, and I enjoy coming here and showing work because most people here are the best of the best. Although most times I do get A LOT of shit for what I post, I also do get a lot of help, and I think that slowly but surely I'm getting better. You can't beat a guy for trying right?
Thanks again for ALL comments everyone. I appreciate QBN!

whats with that huge white space???

Sorry dude, you'll get no sympathy from me.
I was probably where you're at professionally at one time in my life and (not) unfortunately I didn't exactly have access to resources like QBN and myriad other art+design portals at my fingertips to take inspiration from. Still, I learned and I watched and took inspiration from trends while trying to imbue things I designed with my own 'style'.
So, seeing as you do have access to these resources and seeing as what passes for 'professional' and 'contemporary' day and in and out on QBN and elsewhere how could you possibly be stuck in 1998 of web design?
And no, I can't really dock you for trying but fuck man, I can't honestly believe you're trying your hardest and if you are... well then that's probably going to be a problem for you professionally later on down the line.
And in an earlier post I mentioned you need to rip someone elses shit. Now ethically I oppose this - it's never good to steal other peoples work but you can at least be INSPIRED by it.
I also apologize for not critiquing constructively - so here goes:
-The entire top area above the navigation bar needs to be reworked. The way you have composed the logotype, image, image-scrolling device and subnav is a complete mess.
-Typography needs major refinement - from headers to leading. Look at typographic resources that are specific to the web to get a good idea of how to treat type. At the very least, use type consistently.
-It looks like you have an inkling of a 960 grid developed.. why not push that further? Study the grid and use it effectively.
-In all honesty it's not the WORST thing I have seen... but it wouldn't even call it bad. It's somewhere in between worst and bad. You've got a start here and I wouldn't even call it good.
- BTW, I still think you are someones idea of a joke.d_rek

Ok man I believe who you say you are. Your WHOIS checks out. So I think you should go to a site like http://siteinspire.net/ . Browse around. Hell even rip someone off. Or maybe take a few class. I think you have good intention you are just going down the wrong path kitten. Good Luck ;)

@d_rek... I really do appreciate what you are saying here. What I will take from what you have said here is the areas that I really should focus on with my studies and learning. I know that typography is a HUGE part of design, and I'll admit that I really have no understanding of the concept and it's something that I would really like to learn. I do know a little bit of the 960 grind system, but I'm not anywhere close to where I'd like to be.
Also, I really do know the benefit of QBN and other resources that I have available to me (like QBN). Which is why I will continue to come back, bashings or no bashings, and display my work and listen closely to the critics that I'm receiving. To put it into a comparison of my Hockey days... I used to play with guys that were 2-3 years older than me, twice my size and had much better skills that I did. So I'm hear on QBN playing with the big boys. I believe if you want to get better, you "play" with those who are far better than you, and you will grow much faster. Kinda a "Put up or Shut up" mentality.
If you really think I'm a joke, that's fine... I'm still getting the good and bad responses that I really am looking for. I really don't see why someone would use QBN and trends like this as a joke... that sounds to me like a huge waste of time.
Thanks for the comments... I have much room to grow. That's what motivates me to push myself to get better.
- gotta love that kind of attitude.baseline_shift

Reviewing what you had on the last page:
> too much leading throughout your text areas.
> Way too much space in that Purple Side Nav, Links hard to read on that color also.
> Lots of awkward white space
> Use a grid to align things
> Drop the icons on the Navigation, or use better ones
> Highlight which section you are on in the nav
> Source out better stock images
> The Logo placement/ Logo in general is awkward
> Testimonials title seems to be floating in space
> why is the welcome indented, also seems to be stretched/distorted
- kronikmedia0
I think your design is fine. Please also note that a lot of people here who will put you down with their smart comments are actually not that successful themselves as designers or developers. You are working in the real world with real customers where real things matter most. Let the customers be the judge of what matters most for his/her business and not another bedroom designer who has achieved nothing commercially.
There are many factors to judge the success of a website. Big words is not one of them. Design is important but your customer operates a real business and knows what will help the business succeed. Over smart designers may tell you tall tall tales and think both you and your customer don't know anything. Just ask them what they have achieved commercially.

- i generally dont listen to anyone's critique unless they post their own work. Lots of people angrily posting from moms' basement here.baseline_shift

- HAHAHA!! Just coz someone is willing 2 pay for bad work doesn't make it good. There's someone buying urine right nowVectorMasked

@kronikmedia: I have to disagree with you - partially at least. It's not a "fine" piece of work, unless you really lower the bar. Most things posted in here are much better.
You are right though, about the general big word tendency in feedback threads in here. And no - it doesn't really matter what some flamer thinks. However the quality of a design shouldn't only be assessed by the client. They pay you to make their concept not suck, and you need to have some kind of integrity to come up with a good solution.
My bottomline is that it's not useless for designers to discuss and rate each others' work. Thank God - or all those QBN hours would have been a total waste(?)! :)

So the site is up now... but I wanted to see if you guys could help me out with it???
The animated banner on the top of the page works fine in Firefox and Safari, but Internet Explorer displays it with all the pictures stacked on top of each other.
Any ideas of why it's doing that?
Please help me out guys.
Thanks,
Hubbz
- harlequino0
You might want to pay for those stock photos and get rid of the water mark.
Just an idea.
- hubb7designs0
Yea, we will be paying for the photos later tonight.
But do you have an idea about the banner not working in IE?
- d_rek0
Good to see you paid little to no heed to any of the critique given here.
- d_rek.. making the changes that everyone talked about were not an option. This is the site that my client wanted. If I would have following the QBN recommendations, I would have lost the client. But I will be using the tools and advice from here for my future work.hubb7designs
- harlequino0
Always IE problems, so no not specifically, I don't know.
Advice: Never, ever go live with FPO material. That's really bad form.
