I meant, that one day I'll be able to design something that the professionals on QBN will enjoy.
I think that QBN users demand standards, and everyone here sets the bar pretty high. I'll always acknowledge that I have a lot of learning to do. But I'll get there.

Straight css mouseover will do it if you can use websafe fonts:

You sound like a cool dude.
As far as the design of that is concerned it has a long way to go. Its all a bit huge and toys 'r' us feeling.
Definitely need to lose the huge white space between logo and nav bar. Nav bar could be a little thiner and let the nav titles breath a bit (more space between them)
I'd also put a little more space around the content. Drop the smaller text a bit and then centre the title inbetween it and the nav.
Box on the right is almost nice but here you have too much space, the links could be tightened up and the box made about 2 3rds of the size.
Grab that footer and put it underneath content and then put a grey background behind the whole site.
(can't help with the coding)

Hubb, don't take this as a sarcastic comment or me being an asshole, but how do you get clients?
- Right now I'm partnered with a guy. He finds the clients and give me the design and coding part of the job. He likes to focus on small businesses that can't afford or wont pay for top dollar designs. Kinda all comes together huh? They get what they pay for I guess.hubb7designs
- P.S.--- that wasn't "asshole-ish" I've gotten much worse before :)hubb7designs

Mister Hubb. You need to start over. Not trying to be a dick but I see you falling into the same traps with each "crit thread". I think you are missing a step in your process somewhere. Do you look to any other designs / concepts for inspiration or are you just jumping into MS paint without a vision? I think this is not even close to where you need to be. Are you a high school student? Do you have anytime of design training? Or is this avatar some weird conceptual internet experiment? sorry :(
- any type :(rson
- To answer your questions: I do look at other designs all the time. I don't use paint :) I'm not a high school student and I try to find time for training. I work full time for a communications company and use every free moment to learn more. That's why I like it here.hubb7designs

Hubb, props to you for withstanding the crit firing squad. Looks like you have some good directions to follow now. Best wishes,

Here is the whole story... I'm working with a guy that has been getting clients and we work together on the projects. He writes up the content and I create and code the designs.
This project is for a guy that has not given us any direction besides tell us that he wants is to "mirror prodigy.... don't copy it.... use your imagination"
Here is the Prodigy site he is talking about:
http://www.prodigylawgroup.com/d…So my design is what I came up with.
- do you code or design b/c from the sounds of it. you need help with both.plash
- That is very true. That's why I come to QBN for help.hubb7designs

read the grid link dropdown gave you above, apply it to yours
- I will be doing this... dropdown and Shaney were very helpful.hubb7designs

Ok lets say you are not fucking around with us and this is real. Maybe hire a designer and concentrate on your coding? You can not be as bad as coder as you are a designer. And yes you seem like a good person just trying to be honest with you.
- OSFA0
But hubb, your design is a rip from prodigy... I know the client told you to use prodigy as a sample, but you copied everything...
- I know what you are saying, but that is what I was told to do... pretty much just copy in and change it a little bit.hubb7designs
- Funny, coming from a law firm. Principles, man, principles!ismith

Do you ever wireframe your designs, hubb?
- jevad0
You are shitting me?
- jimbojones0
come on, if the client is happy, so be it. why do you care what a bunch of bored pseudo-elitist designers say.
- janne760
it's better, but keep working on balancing the type!
- d_rek0
Ok, i'll say it if no one else will.
Just fucking find someone else and rip off their shit. It'll be better than you tossing off that atrocity on your poor, uneducated client.
