i remember reading a very short article in the UK version of Wired magazine about one of the first fart apps. the guy was raking in £15k a day for a while. he quit his job when it hit £25k in one day to become a full-time app developer.

Objective C is just like any other 'modern' language (Java, C#, etc...), so it's not that hard to learn. After you understood the whole memory management thing, you can write your first farting app in a week or two.
But if you wanna write uber fancy 3D stuff like you said, you have to do it in OpenGL, which is nothing like ActionScript. It's a real pain, and not just the coding part, but the whole math thingy related to it. So if you want to write the next Need For Speed (which will have a LITTLE chance to be successful) prepare for long weeks if not months of learning...
Good luck...

How to Create Your First iPhone Application

I'm currently dealing with the slow & uninformative Apple App Approval as we speak.
I've been working on this app for the past year:
& completed development of v1.0 5 weeks ago... we are still waiting to be approved & have received little to no response from Apple.
It's extremely frustrating & difficult process to say the lease haha.

I truly believe that this is a fantastic platform & one (especially with the possible release of the tablet) that hasn't even come close to it's full potential.
The problem I see with all of this is the, & as I stated above, is the approval system.
I'm certainly not familiar with desktop development but I'm quite positive that each Application we download & install on our descktops / laptops has to go through an Apple Review before being released.
I understand that this is a safety precaution but at the same time it is bottle necking the speed in which people can develop as well as monetize the products in which they create.
I hope that with the introduction of the tablet this system will be revisited & moved to a more general development platform as desktop development has.
- no way Apple will let you install what you want if they can keep slicing their 30%raf

byDefault00: I've been dealing with apple and one app approval for about 4 months. It's an extremely flawed process. Steve Jobs laughs at me.
- byDefault000
thenuge, I can't even imagine.... have you had any correspondence with them regarding why?
We had one issue where they said we were specifying a specific currency.... no where in the app did it specify any such thing & after searching high & low realized that one of the screenshots we submitted had a price in it..... it's honestly a wild goose chase haha.

byDefault00, I submitted and during the approval process it turned out that someone else had an app waiting to be approved ahead of us that had the same name. So, we renamed, re skinned and re submitted. Now, for some reason our app is not being accepted, something has changed with the provisioning. It's driving me nuts.
- ah I see - yes I had heard about the name issue from another friends app... so frusterating. As far as the provisioning, did they mention specifics? I've found most responses to be extremely vague...byDefault00

What reasons can they reject you for?

byDefault, that app PanelFly looks fucking stellar. I love the smart panel navigation -- I'm guessing the comic authors simply hotzone areas of each page in sequence when they upload?
- byDefault000
Thanks Kult, it's been a blast building the app as we really tried to push both the functionality as well as the design.
Yes, the UI is based upon something close to hot zone but we also have full control of the zoom levels to ensure ideal frame compositions.
Dying to let this puppy loose for sure.
