I just got back from seeing it. Enjoyed it for the most part.
The Office + V + Black Hawk Down = District 9

I thought it was pretty good. The effects and premise were great.

I enjoyed it, although I'm a sucker for special effects, mechas and SA accents..

If you went into this movie expecting anything but a fast paced, popcorn action/sci-fi flick with a touch of social relevance, you were setting yourself up for disappointment.
It's fun, well acted (well, the dude who played Wickus does a good job) and doesn't star any of the tired hollywood mainstays.

just wait for Netflix

enjoyed the movie. it relied a lot on special effects but nothing wrong with that. at least it had a decent concept and story which most big budget movies don't. then again, i am very easily impressed. don't expect a political drama focused entirely on refugee aliens -- it is pretty much an all-out action movie. it has emukid's seal of approval.
- emukid seal of approval? just stfuceiling_cat
- why ceiling_cat, why do you hate me?emukid

The average 12 year loved the movie though....

I like how if you say you didn't like it....everybody screams "YOU missed the allegory"
um...no
NO ONE could miss it...it was so blunt and obvious
unfortuntly so much of the movie silly...the allegory didn't amount to anything.
everybody in the theater was only into the 'splosions
c+

If you like action and alien movies then see it.
If you expect it to be Garden State with a smattering of E.T. then don't.

Yes. Agree. Hopefully.

I think I'm going to see it tonight. I have high hopes.
I hope the focus is on the story and not just a bunch of special effects and a status quo story. This movie could be really good with a darker, serious tone imo.
