LOL ponyboy, it helps me to think of that as well... that despite your relative youth, I would never trade places with you

Increments of ten are kind of arbitrary, aren't they? Doesn't really mean anything.
If humans had 9 fingers instead of 10 you'd be crying because you just turned 27.

go to burning man. When you leave you'll be like "thank god I'm grown"

I'm almost 30 as well. I read an article on CNN saying how people 20-29 are the most unhappy (and liuke 60+ were the most happy). I had a blast in my late 20's, so I think 30 should rock hard!
There seems to be a stigma in the US that over 27-28 you get boring, married, book clubs, stay in. I don't see the same in parts of Asia and Europe. People still go out, party, have a blast... that's my plan.
- I'm with you - but I realize it's because we love the work we do - I know plenty of miserable 20-somethngsPonyBoy
- You turn into the creepy old guy if you keep that up for too long though.TheBlueOne

- Yeah. Sadly, I do.
TheBlueOne - creepy old guy if I go to clubs with a popped collar. I can hit bars with drinking buddies.jfletcher
- and creepy guy if I still hit on 21 y/old girls with my shirt 3 buttons undone.jfletcher

Age makes no difference. Our lives are but dust. We'll all be dead soon enough.

Things such as one's social life definitely change as you get older, but it's not so much a function of getting older per se as it is maturity, marriage, having kids, etc. As we get older, the things we find meaningful often change and develop.
One thing I enjoy about being thirty is that I'm much more comfortable in my own skin than I was ten years ago. For example, my wife was out of town on a girl's wkend with her old college roommates. On a Friday night, I went to see a nerdy movie (Harry Potter) by myself, and had a blast. I just didn't give a shit about being out by myself on a weekend. Ten years ago, I would've felt like a total loser.
...Or maybe I am a total loser and have become comfortable with that fact... either way, I'm happier. :)
- e.g. when I see a 40-y.o. guy who still charges hard and gets hammered three + days a week, that's a matter of maturity.gramme

Mine's next year. I usually don't go crazy on birthdays anymore but I want to do something for my 3-0. I want to go on a trip, maybe Europe

I love birthday parties when the person celebrating is a total downer.
Instead of being bummed out, go do the things you want to do, and go accomplish the things you want to accomplish.
30 rules.

I love being in 30s.. I'm 33 and I love everything about it. I look better than when I was younger, get more points with girls (granted I can't really date 18-20 year olds anymore but I really don't want to), more experienced, doing stuff I love, good career.
I thought I would feel worse when I turned 30 but I guess it's all about how you feel.
