HAHAHAHA.....yeah, people aways get amazed by this. It's really not too bad. The plane is on a glideslope which is interpreted by the autopilot to control the vertical rate of descent. No one's in any danger here really.
The crabbing agle of the plane in the crosswind landing above is also very common in winds in excessive of 20 mph...that video is extreme of course...but not having the horizontal axis of the plane aligned to the runway on approach is very common.
NOW...if you want to shoot a REAL scary approach...may I suggest Toncontin airport in Honduras' capital city of Tegucigalpa. It is the shortest commercial runway in the world. The approach is fast and through the mountains...no ILS appraoch available...it's hands on for the pilots the entire way. THAT is a wild ride
