anyone tried using sifr's as navigation successfully?
Been given the task to make it happen, but at the moment I can't get it working correctly in hover state's etc even when displaying as a block the sifr overrides it.

sifr bad
- tell me about it... :(Bullitt
- I'd be better just using graphics or even a full flash navigation, but it needs to work in cms,Bullitt
- full flash and feed it with some XML from the CMS or something like that...imnotaplumber

try these:
http://www.fontsquirrel.com/font…
you can then do this:
http://craigmod.com/journal/font…- thanks mate, but the problem is we still comply to the law that some muppet some where is using IE6.Bullitt

Use cufon instead of sifr.

Um... @font-face ?

I want custom fonts in regular HTML and I want it NOW

Cufon takes literally 3 minutes to set up and the only limitation is the inability to do rollover colors.
- +1. Cufon rules. And you CAN do rollover colours.thatboyneave

Cufon can do menus easily and with rollovers.
- Really, everyone says it can't do hover states.imnotaplumber

Most font foundries EULA's won't allow you to use them with Cufon.

...good lookin out on "cufon". never heard of that before today.

Bump!
How does Google feel about cufcon? Is it spiderable?

<ul class="navItems">
<li class="navItem"><a href="#">link</a></li>
</ul>
then in sifr-config
sIFR.replace(arial, {
selector: '.navItems li',
css: '.sIFR-root { font-size: 14px; text-transform: uppercase; } a { text-decoration: none; color: #00647d;} a:hover {color: #FFFFFF}',
wmode: 'transparent'
});

back on this.
Got my Nav set up (had to use letter spacing in the css to get each of the words space out correctly in regards to padding between pipe.
Problem I'm getting though, is display:block.
It's not working, when I rollover the text, its not changing colour and the pointer is changing to the text tool icon. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? cheers

cufon is great, not that its the most advanced or brilliantly designed example or anything, but all the text on my wee folio site (appart from the projects menu) is done in cufon, including the little nav thing ihn the top left, with rollovers. rip the code if you like
- FallowDeer0
let us know how you get on with this as I had problems with li tags and spacing
- Stugoo0
thing is it depends on the version of sifr that you are using...
With regards to cufon, I am seriously considering using it, however if your site has to be AAA then it fails validation.
WCAG 2.0 guidelines 1.4.8.1 and 1.4.9
http://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG20/#vis…1.4.8 Visual Presentation: For the visual presentation of blocks of text, a mechanism is available to achieve the following: (Level AAA)
1. Foreground and background colors can be selected by the user.and
1.4.9 Images of Text (No Exception): Images of text are only used for pure decoration or where a particular presentation of text is essential to the information being conveyed. (Level AAA)
because of the highlighting aspect. however cufon is much easier to manage
also there are legal issues...

Really odd how this topic just came to the top because i've just been playing with them all and settled on cufon.
Anyone know how I can feed it a Mac font though?
