I asked the charging time for the battery. Herm. Wonder what their response will be. I can only see that being the down fall (battery charge time) and staying under a hundred miles of travel.
- d_rek0
or maybe we'll find out that the battery is probably made up of rare earth metals only found in some remote third world country and Nissan is blighting the land of it's natural resources to make batteries for our 'zero emissions' vehicles because the theoretical 'global warming' has got everyone's panties up in a bunch....
*sigh* fuck *sigh* ... sorry, monday ranting

Saw a news story on NHK world the other day that Japan is outfitting gas stations with fast-charging equipment and other battery options.
- DrBombay0
Why should people on Earth still be using motor technology from the industrial revolution though, just saying.
I just think that nuclear is going to have to come into the picture pretty quickly though.
- designbot0
Hmmmm........what about the fossil fuels being burned to power these "fast-charging" stations?
Agreed Dr.B, we need nuclear....and soon or all this new green technology will be in vain.

I like how they have a big sticker on the side that says "Zero Emissions" so you can gloat at your neighbors.
- It'd be fun to replace it with one that says "Zero Erections"harlequino

It's great to see progress for sure. Like I've said in the past, I feel like some of these ideas are just shortsighted ( The equation needs to go from A to Z or it's pointless). Hopefully the push to even get this far will help drive to more breakthroughs and truly serve up something sustainable.

Welcome to the future.
Finally!

designbot,
Well, the reality of the problem is that all of these 'green' and 'sustainable' solutions are all AFTER the fact.
Nobody seems to understand that. You can't talk about sustainability after you've leveled a forest or mined a mineral vein dry. It's already WAY AFTER THE FACT.

When will this car be available at dealerships?
A: It will be on the road in some markets (CA, OR, WA, AZ, TN, NC) in 2010, with more states to follow.
- harlequino0
That'd be hilarious if it ran on hemp.

Well, it seems like the question should be, is the end result less pollution and damage to the environment? Obviously there will not be zero cost...but if there is less that's a good thing, no?

- Newt's wife is named Callista?ukit
- Still it's all garbled and mixed up.d_rek
- haha!PonyBoy

- I get confused between them all. Credability though, that cat's got it.harlequino
- the sad thing about the book is the underlying premise isn't about helping the environment... it's about making money off of the...PonyBoy
