Goodness Utopian. No questioning the greatness of the links you posted, but I completely disagree with you. I think it especially strange to be so strongly opinionated on the site without even seeing it. Granted you saw a 320x240 flash movie of it. I would be curious to see what you would do with a site such as NPR. Not only does NPR serve as an online source for reading the news, it is also a source of audio and radio programming. Seems like a pretty tall task that I would say was successfully conquered.

It just occurred to me that you may not have seen this link:
http://www.npr.org/services/new_…That link contains a video which is a preview of the new site, which is set to launch on the 27th of this month. The site you see when you go to NPR.org right now is the old site. Perhaps your judgement was upon the current site and not the new one that is only viewable in the tiny movie in the link above?

did you watch that video? I am not expecting your mind to be blown. I was just surprised to see such a harsh judgment of the site without having seen the full thing. From what I see in the video it seems like a striking improvement on quite a challenging project.

I think the NPR redesign is a gracious improvement. Schematic, eh? Nice.

I like it. Nice touch with the Programs and Listen drop-downs. I really like the header font used also.

Now that I see it full size, I like bits an pieces, but honestly the homepage gets a bit hectic after the fold. some backgrounds to link/differentiate content blocks might help (not that anyone is asking me...)

It's up! Overall I like it... think it's a big improvement... easier to use and read...and that's kind of the point...

One thing I don't like though... when you click on Music all the navigation changes... ugh... that's just disorienting for no reason...
