I am not a sports fan, in general, but soccer is a team sport that I played for several years growing up and I really enjoy it. I do not follow professional football/soccer and am not invested in the World Cup (although I do enjoy watching if it's on).
That being said, I am so fucking annoyed by the so-called "fans" here in America (I'm speaking specifically about my friends and coworkers). Every four years, for only a couple of weeks, they become instant fans, and when it's over they ignore the sport completely and go back to basketball and football and whatever. Our networks won't even air a soccer match unless it's us playing. So ridiculous.
