I'm moving into a new place tomorrow and need to pick up a router for the wireless. I haven't kept myself updated on these things.. what should I be shopping for and what am I looking to spend?
P.S. Small 3 br place with only 2 or 3 laptops connected through the wireless.

D-Links are ok, I use one at home, but it's acting up. I set up a network for a company and they had 30 new D-Link routers, and i think 3 or 4 of them didn't work out of the box. Linksys units are ok, had pretty good luck with those.

if you find a few models you like, look em up in tech forums. some have issues like poor wireless speeds when theres a few walls between you and such. you might also wanna consider voip.

Going to agree with akrok, I have the DR 615 and its grand, works fine for me with my mac and my ps3. Its ugly but it was cheap and its under my desk to save space, so spending the cash on an airport thingy made no sense to me.

Router Wamaker always seems to know his stuff.
^ Its the sort of joke that you'll either instantly get or you wont, so don't waste too much time on it.

I've always bought and recommended whichever relevant option Netgear was available at the time. Cheap and plenny good.

DONT GET D-LINK, APPLE, OR NETGEAR ROUTERS!
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pr…
this router is fucking AMAZING. you can flash Tomato firmware or DD-WRT. it's very powerful and stable. if you get this, you will not regret it.
- A little overzealous, perhaps?Nairn
- Why is this a good deal if the d-link above has a higher spec (IEEE 802.11n & IEEE 802.11g as opposed to just IEEE 802.11b/g)shitehawke
- haha. eh, no! :-)akrokdesign
- I recommend Apple, D-Link and Netgear routers.ribit
- ..and Draytek cos they have amazing features even if shitty UIribit

Is this any good? I want to move my pc desktop to another room and it doesn't have a wireless card. Does the USB adapter replace a wireless card? Is it fast enough for broadband? Thanks
- Here's some more, which would you buy? http://newyork.craig…ceiling_cat
