Mik, tethering is when you use your mobile as a modem to connect to the internet via your laptop. Would of been so useful yesterday when I had a 3 hour train ride and needed to register an account with a certain website... I think it's a US term.

"This version of iPhone OS 3.0 should only be deployed on devices dedicated for iPhone OS 3.0 GM Seed software development. By installing iPhone OS 3.0 GM Seed software on your Authorized Test Devices, these Devices are permanently "locked" into testing mode and cannot be restored to an earlier release of iPhone OS. Bear this in mind before installing the software."

A compass?..
Imagine an app that shows you the sky map of where you stand and point your iPhone towards. How many times you looked at the stars and wondered what constellations those were?
So, the GPS finds your position, accelerometer tells the angle so that the app knows which part of the sky you're aiming the phone at. The only part missing was the compass to show what direction you're pointing at.- i'm disappointed that they still don't have laser beam on iphone.!pango

will this one be shielded so I don't have to place my phone 20 feet from my workstation speakers so I don't hear morse code every 5 minutes.

^^ me too, actually I'm getting the aluminum back replaced after 2 years. My missus' looks like new and it's almost the same old.
3G/3Gs features are from the non-killer sort and I much prefer classy aluminum to the 3G shitty plastic.Every 3G I see people use is totally scratched.
I think Apple designs them that way, just like iPod's scratch – inviting mirror backs. They must have done some psychological studies saying people will subconsciously treat iPods as valuable items if they have this sort of fragility on the exterior.Or maybe if iPods non-verbally say "scratch my back" it creates a deeper intimate bond with the owner?
