    ^^ me too, actually I'm getting the aluminum back replaced after 2 years. My missus' looks like new and it's almost the same old.
    3G/3Gs features are from the non-killer sort and I much prefer classy aluminum to the 3G shitty plastic.

    Every 3G I see people use is totally scratched.
    I think Apple designs them that way, just like iPod's scratch – inviting mirror backs. They must have done some psychological studies saying people will subconsciously treat iPods as valuable items if they have this sort of fragility on the exterior.

    Or maybe if iPods non-verbally say "scratch my back" it creates a deeper intimate bond with the owner?
