If you're a developer, this is why you always code in a failsafe. You don't get paid, you upload a very scary image/SWF online that gets automatically displayed over the work in situations like this. Until you get paid.
Learned the idea here in fact.

how do you expect to maintain your own professionalism when acting like a little kid?
my friend screwed me, im learning my slow lesssson, and thats that. no need to act like a littlle toy over it.

sounds like an asshole, the less wasted on this the better. It'll end up coming back at him in time.

Right. First of all, It was you who agreed from the start to give him 50% discount and keep working at that rate for him. There's no need to throw that in his face and call him ungratefull. You had 7 years (?) to walk away from that or change the deal. Second: Even if you are in the right, you shouldn't lower yourself writing such an email. You should've written a draft and walked away for a while (like ideaist said) instead of coming off so unprofessionally.
third: mixing friendship and business is a dangerous mix if not handled maturely.
Anyway — thats my 2 cents. Hope it somehow works out!
- It seemingly feels so good to send such a spiteful email, but it feels even better to just drop it completely and move onacrossthesea

Likewise i worked for a friend doing all the web design and seo for his business for a small commission on the profit on sales (ammounting to the square root of jack shit once hed creamed off expenses) his site reached page 1 for his MASSIVE term which is where he gets all the business from. i scaled back the time i expended as i made a new years resolution to 'get a life' and hes kicked off because his site has slipped onto page 2... now hes getting 'seo experts' to validate my work and asking me to explain my actions... WTF! his 5 or 6 sites all designed, content re-written and submitted cost probably £3000 over 10 years in small amounts... fuckr

Yeah, you have reason to be pissed. What an a-hole. On the bright side, as much as this lesson sucked, it's one you (and we all on your behalf) won't soon forget. :)

I'm sorry to hear this happened to you, man. It sucks to lose a client, but it sucks even more to lose a friend.
Reminds me of this:
- Just had to tell a new client to beat it. Just about to sign agreements and they go, yeah, we only have half the budget we discussed.ETM
- we discussed. Can you work with that? Sure, I'll have to scale the project. No, no we don't want to change the scope. :/ETM
- scope at all. :/
So, I agree.... Fuck clients...ETM
