Macs are great, if you dont really want to know where your files are stored and if you don't do any type of real animation outside of flash. They can handle being part of a render farm, they can't handle CAD software (currently using solid works); so in conclusion as pretty as they look, I am not able to use one. (besides any of that I took the money I was gonna buy a mac with and bought two very impressive PC's that handle everything I throw at em, even got two 26" wide screens)

dan5382, your ignorance is astonishing.
Mac file storage is very organized.
Real animation—think Hollywood—is done on Macs.
Macs don't handle CAD? Since when?- Well considering i use a video card made for CAD that is not made for mac....dan5382
- Final cut pro is not animation although a far superior program to Premieredan5382
- Maya 64bit? anyone? anyone?dan5382
- Oh and I said CAD software, CAD is not software it stands for COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN.dan5382
- Oh and lets not even get into what the MACs I do (or can't do) have do on our servers.dan5382
- Hollywood?!?! hahaha no dude. Go on Autodesk.com and learn how movies are made.zarkonite
- I'd love to use a Mac for post on film but we just can't.zarkonite
- OK so that's one specialised profession in one state in the US out of the equation.MrT
- z, there is more then just post production. that's just a small part of film production.akrokdesign

"If you spend more time trying to get your computer to work and less time doing what you want, it’s time to get a Mac"

I never mentioned editing software, like Final Cut or Premiere, I'm talking about animation. Most animated films are made using Macs. And yes, Maya runs 64bit on a Mac.
Apple also makes some kickass servers and Macs are definitely built to work in render farms.
And there is a ton of CAD software for Macs as well. They've been available for years. I don't know where you got your info.

isn't it windows it self which gives pc's a bad name. i am sure a alienware, same price range or higher as a mac. would work fine if its just had a better os.
- that's about rightmonospaced
- the OS is the only real difference. Hardware-wise a mac is just a limited choice version of a PC.zarkonite
- yeah. quality of quantityakrokdesign
- amen!zarkonite
- mrdoob0
That's not how the conversation supposed to go...
It doesn't matter which OS is better, as long as you do good stuff with the machine doesn't matter the OS.
- hey, how many times did you have to restart before you finish posting this one. lol.akrokdesign

get. fucked. douchebag.
- iCanHazQBN0
MRDOB, you're a fucking idiot. you cant "do good stuff" if your computer is constantly fighting back at you and not allowing you to do your job. it raises stress levels having to deal with all the PC issues and it eats at your fucking brain on a daily basis, causing overall creativity and the motivation to work to PLUMMET. Trust me, I have been dealing with this shit for three years. Our IT guy INSISTS the designers use PCs... and he has final say according to the boss for some fucking reason, probably because the boss has known him the longest.
i hate that fucking argument "it doesn't matter what the tool is, it's what you get done on it". bullshit empty argument a child would come up with.
- let me say your tech must suck ass, seriously. Maintaining a working windows is not hard at all...zarkonite
- consider all backend stuff that runs on windows. Electric plants, water treatment, web servers, your OnStar in your car, etc. etc. etc.zarkonite
- OnStar. LOL! that's for MORONS.akrokdesign
- ..how lock their keys inside their cars.akrokdesign
- who. and not how. i typed to fast there. :-)akrokdesign
- you shouldn't need an IT guy to keep your computer functional!!!iCanHazQBN
- Electric/Water Plants, Server companies, sure, those guys need an IT team. But a tiny design shop... NO.iCanHazQBN
- its completely unnecessary that we need one. All we need is fooking MACS.iCanHazQBN
- As I'm typing this. the GOOGLE server is DOWN. the regular google site AND Gmail.iCanHazQBN
- so don't tell me these fucking servers dont ever fail.iCanHazQBN
- PC is poison. They are the innovative assholes, just like GM is. And the giant will fall eventually...iCanHazQBN
- ..because they're completely out of touch to what people really want.iCanHazQBN
- Yes, iCanHazQBN, you're totally right. Here, take a cookie.mrdoob
- i will take it in the shape of a bitten apple.iCanHazQBN

Wow, qbn people keeps getting better over the years. Nice one!

This Is Important.

It's your machine!
ok that was fun.

I'm sure Apple struggled with this.
"Hi, I'm a Mac...and I'm Windows."
"I'm a Windows. I'm Mr. Windows."
"Fuck it."

- < mrdoob working late. lol.akrokdesign
- I use Ubuntu.mrdoob
- damn. my bad. lol. ;-)akrokdesign

fucking mac idiots.
its just a machine. i am sure you all want to create art, anyone on this thread. you can do that on a mac...or a pc....or paper.
the machine is just a machine.
the mac....it just makes people feel like artists...that is the genius of the marketing.
- dude, checking out dubious porn sites on windows is hazardous at best... way better on a mac.zarkonite

macs are for designers?
Well, that might have something to do with the fact that Adobe created Illustrator and Photoshop for Apple Macintosh. And that Apple was the first platform to use PostScript, which led to professional desktop publishing as we know it today.
