They are a telecommunications company.

3, maybe

Oh man I liked your earlier versions better. The swoosh just says generic internet company.
If you are stuck with the swoosh, I'd suggest the sharp diagonal of the V really doesn't fit. Go with a more humanist font.

like 2 but not very legible to be honest
- better colour scheme than the last versions thoWeLoveNoise

cliché, hackneyed, generic, faceless, dull and ugly are all phrases that spring to mind.
- Great feedback Mr. Rasko. Your portfolio of work really crystallizes your perspective.dMullins
- interesting, considering the client requested those exact adjectives in our initial meetingirrelevant
- Yeah I agree. Looks like the client pushed this direction though?acrossthesea
- As is your critique. Offer some direction if you're going to be a negative nancy.Andrew_D
- oh so I need to prove my self to YOU in order to have an opinion is that it?max_prophet
- He asked for a critique, not an opinion. If you don't like something, say why.Andrew_D
- wouldn't you want the same?Andrew_D
- I did say why. Why don't you critique it instead of critiquing my comment.max_prophet
- haha maxsko your diplomacy knows no bounds!vespa

client = art director? that's problem #1

Remove the swoosh, the ball and the "I", so you're left with
V.D

OUt of all the options, number 6 is my favorite, but needs more work. I like the effect you're creating with the stroke around the orbitals, but the way the type is incorporated just doesn't work (for legibility's sake).

What was the client feedback? What can we change?

hard to critique without more info on the company... What do the letters stand for? (this might explain why V and D are different colours... because at the moment they are getting tonally confused with the swooshes)
4, 5 & 7 read as "ONDI"

top left for telecommunications ... feels connected. i dunno, i just work here.

What's the thinking behind using Avant Garde? It gives it a retro feel, which seems like it should be the opposite of what you are trying to get across here.
Since maybe they've boxed you in with the concept, I'd give up on the classic/ minimal angle and just go with a nice, modern sans (check Fontshop, there are dozens that would work great for this). Redraw the mark so that it better reflects the geometry of the letters and boom - on to the next project.

imho, I'd work with option 3 and try this: With the circular icon, place the area where all three shapes meet off-center (up and to the right) so that the gray shape is closer to the 'V'. Then slice the inverse of the gray shape away from the 'V' (either off the left edge, or perhaps it is even the counter of the 'V'). This might help create more dimension in the icon and synch it up more with the typo. Good luck with your client : )

yip, VD where i come from is not worth highlighting in avant garde or any other typeface. It stings.
To be honest, if you think it's even worth showing the bottom one, you need to go back to school cuz!!! Or change career.- I lol'd at the first sentence.dMullins
- btw identities as acronyms should be banned.josimar
