must be on shoes, it's registering the impact
- version30
there are several ways to interlace it into the bottom of your shoelaces
- version30
goooooo goooooooooogle!
- fooler20
some say it has to be in the sole, others don't
- VectorMasked0
the closer it is to the sole the more accurate. undeniable truth.
A sensor placed somewhere else in the shoe like in between laces will result in a 5-15% drop of accuracy meaning if you ran 10km, it'll register as 9.25km or so.
If the sensor is in your pocket of hand it won't connect to the to the receiver... and the ipod let's you know you are being a dumbass.

in other words, your only choice is to be clever, or to use what most peopel without nike+ shoes do... which is to place in between the laces. Most would get something like this from amazon.com

Its called Lacelid
you can get it here:
http://lacelid.com/I used for over a year with none nike+ shoes and in january I got a pair of compatible shoes, and works EXACTLY THE SAME
I do the same path everyday, and I know just the point were it tells me that I completed 1k, and it didn't change one big.
Get it, is totally worth it, so cheap and you can use it w any shoe you want.
and once you do, come and join us for a run, we do one almost every month, sign up here:

is it worth it ?
doesnt it just tell u how many steps u made ?- yes, its an incredible motivation. I never got into running till this thing came out.Meeklo
- VectorMasked0
worth it? yes.
it doesn't tell you how may steps you've made. it tells you the speed, distance, time and calories while running and also you hear a recording telling you the distance or ho much you have left... or things to encourgae you to keep on going.
The best part is after you run. Once you upload you run, you can see detailed information of your runs and keeps track of every run, gibing you the option to see averages based on weeks, months, whatever... and see you improvement. There's hundreds and hundreds of challenges and competitions where your data competes with the data of other runners. All the data is shown with graphs and animation. There's trash talk in the competitions. You can create any challenge anytime or you can join existing ones like the "race to the Moon" which is a competition in between countries to see what country runs the equivalent of the distance to the moon. There's thousands of runner from around the globe on that one. There's also a challenge among QBNers we do every 6 weeks.
You can also use the tools from the nike+ site to create a excercise regime based on the goal you set yourself like being able to run 10km within 6 months and stuff.- glorified stepometer thenWeLoveNoise
- nope. couldn't even explained 20% of what I can do with it. Besides a pedometer is more expensive than this thingVectorMasked

It is very motivating, a friend o mine does triathalons and has recently come back from an injury, introduced to Nike+ Challenges and she can't stop running (although she fell off her bike last night).
Mine is on the front of my trainer and I use a sportsband. I do find this very inaccurate over a run but generally levels itself out. I am getting a pair of Nike+ trainers next time round
- WeLoveNoise0
so what does the wristband do ? pulse rate etc
- Dancer0
sportsband = wristband
Does the same as the ipod nano in terms of recording data, slightly less accurate and doesn't play music
- wwiz0
I use this one and no problem.

I just threw mine underneath my insole where it would normally go. I wear a pair of Air Max 360s and between the cushion from the insole and the air pockets beneath, I can barely feel it. It seems to be fairly accurate every time.
I did some research on "modifying" the shoes to construct a makeshift spot in the sole for it but I didn't want to risk popping the air pocket in my shoe so I gave this a shot and it worked perfectly.

i just cut a hole in my last pair of nike airs. i based the cut on my wife's shoes (who actually has the nike+ shoes), and it worked fine.
i think i posted a pic of it in one of the nike+ qbn challenge threads...

- you cheap bastardfooler2
- haha, well i just bought the fucking shoes. i wasn't going to buy another pair just to drop the + inlvl_13

- are those high top vans?Meeklo
- I has half kidding, but I think you ruin the integrity of the sole doing that.fooler2
