haalo, anybody got airport express / airport extreme?
I need to connect my G5 tower power mac thinggy wirelessly at home. Considering the express or extreme. Does the Airport express have a very good range / or is it the same as the airport extreme?
Would appreciate anybodys feedback if they have either of these.

extreme has an exellent range here

Extreme definitely has better range. What exactly do you need it to do?
- jimzyk0
any idea what the range is on the express?

thanks ismith - i really only need to connect wirelessly at home.
I recieved a crappy wireless router when I signed up for broadband so just need to connect the G5 tower really.

no airports?

I have both.

Express is more of a signal extender for larger rooms or a wireless router for smaller rooms. I suggest getting both, then you can wirelessly stream your music from your computer to your stereo. The airport express has an 1/8" out on it, it's pretty great.

i have the extreme, its pretty great and its in the other room. (40+ ft. away)

yes i have both and they work very well.
"extreme" doesn't freeze at all. (almost)
other modem i had before had to restart them every week...

cool thanks guys, so would you recommend getting both an airport extreme and airport express or would just the extreme be ok?

What is it exactly that you want to do? What kind of connection do you have now? What's the problem with 'crappy router'? I have both, (actually one is Time Capsule, which is an Extreme with a hard drive) but they're not the most stable solution ever.
You should be good with an Express though, plugged into the router. It helps if you switch the router's wifi off.
Prepare for cursing during setup, learn how to reset airports..

They're the prettiest around, but not so sure if the best. There's no antenna output on those. Sometimes it helps the network if I switch them off and on again.

Hey raf - i have a crappy router yes, at one end of my home.
And I have a power mac g5 tower in the office, need to connect that wirelessly to the router at the other end of my home. 40ft ish or so...

40ft isn't a lot.. does your crappy router have an antenna socket?

I ditched my Airport Extreme for the ugly but good Draytek 2820Vn... horrible GUI (which is a pain), but it does stuff like allowing multiple wireless networks, so I can run a secure wifi network for me, and a fully open (but throttled and isolated) network for people in my building (cos I'm nice like that).
