Do you even know what kosher is? If you have to ask the question then don't you think it's wrong? You must not have a moral bone in your body!

You might be right skt.
Zimma: While just as imperfect as the next guy, I am a man of integrity and morals. Frankly, I don't think you know me well enough to make such a sweeping statement as "You must not have a moral bone in your body". If you *do* know me as skt insinuates, then email me privately. I'll also add that your statement is absurd. I clearly *do* have a moral bone in my body, or I wouldn't have even asked for advice. If I was utterly lacking in morality, then I sure as hell wouldn't care enough to ask people whether they think something is "kosher" or not.
I wouldn't solicit a client that was actively working with my former employer. *That* would be wrong. But I genuinely wasn't sure what the protocol is if the former employer's account has been dormant for several years. It seems like a totally different situation to me; but this all being new, I thought I'd take a poll on the subject.
Clear?

kaonashi:
Last time I checked, this is a *DESIGN* forum, or so at least it was originally intended.
People ask for crits here all the time, and no one gives them shit for garnering opinions. So why should questions about running a design practice be any different? And hey—guess what buddy? I'm self employed. I run my own business. I'm still managing to pay my mortgage and feed my wife and son. Last time I checked, THAT takes balls. Perhaps next time you should think before typing, and ask yourself if there's any point in being a dick to someone who's always civil to other people on QBN.

non-competes are hard to enforce even when they're in written contract form. Given that it was verbal non-compete, and that your ex-employer hasn't even worked with this client for years, I'd say you have nothing to worry about

Non-compete contracts generally only last 2 years after employment, and aren't enforceable at all with respect to preventing you from competing with your old employer.
