That sucks, I wish you, mamacita y papacito good luck.
Shit, hope everyone is safe.
:( hope everyone's ok
My thoughts go out to everyone in the area. What's with the name of the thread though?
Wow. Glad your folks are safe. Praying for all these people.
Is there nothing these people can do to prepare for this? This has happened before, and continues to happen. What I don't understand is how anyone in the area would not be prepared for a natural disaster such as this. Please explain.
- It's not that easy to prepare for wildfires started on hiking trails.monospaced
- is it because of how dry it is, or the wind?bump79
- The climate is partly to blame. Unfortunately, nobody can prepare for something like this more than they already have.monospaced
wow..that's not a little fire at all...godspeed and safety to all concerned..
seriously though, the same places burn down every year
that's what I meant when I was talking "preparation", I wasn't trying to be a dick to the people who are freaking out over there with the possibility of losing their homes.
Unfortunately, forest fires are a part of nature. Its how parts of forests are cleared for new growth.
Its a shame when people lose homes and property because of these natural phenomena, but thats all part of living on this planet.
Im sorry to hear all this, mono. *sends positive vibes.
Santa Barbara is actually prepared better than most places. We have a killer firefighting force, on the ground and in the air. Aside from fire hydrants, there is no other way to prepare. It's not like building a levy to prepare for hurricane floods or anything.
baseline_shift is right, the fires are natural. They do less damage than other natural disasters though. What shocks me are the people who continually build homes in places that are guaranteed to be devastated regularly. I have my fingers crossed.
- *fingers crossed for youbump79
- inside source says that college students may be to blamemonospaced

Sorry to hear that man. Are your parents safe?
I can't imagine dealing with fires all the time... oh wait i lived in detroit.
no i am really sorry i hope everyone is okay.
so scary, hope it's controlled soon. Santa Barbara is such a beautiful place.
