    Santa Barbara is actually prepared better than most places. We have a killer firefighting force, on the ground and in the air. Aside from fire hydrants, there is no other way to prepare. It's not like building a levy to prepare for hurricane floods or anything.

    baseline_shift is right, the fires are natural. They do less damage than other natural disasters though. What shocks me are the people who continually build homes in places that are guaranteed to be devastated regularly. I have my fingers crossed.
