The white one is an afterthought for the Japanese market, you can bet the original concepts that Ives and Jobs envisioned were black like all current apple products

A few folk here have the white ipods, they seem to be prone to hairline cracks in the white plastic around where plugs/headphones plug in.
Quite a few have been returned, some of these cracks are so small you cant really see them and a magnifying glass is needed to see them.Saying that, you take the phone into an Apple shop and they will replace it no quibbles with a reconditioned phone.
