  A few folk here have the white ipods, they seem to be prone to hairline cracks in the white plastic around where plugs/headphones plug in.
  Quite a few have been returned, some of these cracks are so small you cant really see them and a magnifying glass is needed to see them.

  Saying that, you take the phone into an Apple shop and they will replace it no quibbles with a reconditioned phone.
