looks bulbous and annoying
- Because newspapers and magazines are sooooo compact.Andrew_D

These are unnecessary. I would rather have a paper magazine or a laptop. Maybe one day people will wise up.

another pointless piece of gadgetry for gadget's sake.

god. didnt they hear about the internet? works pretty good, I hear. No need for some overly expensive device to hold static information.
- version30
all your design books in one easy to reference piece separate from your computer sounds beyond convenient. as well as any other digi books you have, much better than deciding what 2 or 3 you want to take with you on the plane. i personally love the thing but I think it cost twice as much as it should

I can't decide whether or not to buy a kindle, or whether I should put the money towards getting "I am a spazzer" tattoo'd on my forehead.

yeah, same with books... why are they in black and white all the time? really anoys me. cheap fuckers.

would purchase if it was called Corky. Kindle sounds retarded.

The thing is, all you pro-Kindlers, just because inevitability is on your side it doesn't mean you're not massive early adopter boffindorks for shelling out way too much mulah for a grossly underspecc'd and woefully 'designed' geek-progression symbol.
This thing is a Segway for the eyes. Its a white elephant. Its a shirt pocket full of pens. Everything else is converging rapidly and yet you all think that somehow we'll always lug around these enormous slabs of rigid plastic alongside our surfercamphonepodorganiser?
- monospaced0
It's in B/W because it's "digital ink." Imagine a full Othello (Reversi) board with a massive grid where the pieces flip to display either their black or white side. That's what's going on here, just at a tiny scale. It takes only a pulse of electricity to "flip" all the pieces to display a new page, and no energy to maintain it; cool shit in my opinion.
As the price of the digital ink/paper drops, so will the Kindle. I also feel it should be cheaper as is.
- ^Horp
- your ^ < doesn't even make sense, nor does it warrant an LOL.monospaced
- Hahahah, I knew you would say something like that Mono that's why I did it. = )Horp
- then you shake it to clear the screen.monNom

I don't think they're targeting graphics obsessed people like designers (and shit).
If you think of teachers, students, etc - people who have to read a lot of books simultaneously for their work - or even just someone who cares more about what is written than how it is written - it makes perfect sense.
It's just the price that doesn't make sense.
