As far I remember, XML supposed to be a successor of HTML. Then xHTML came out (x for extensible) but xHTML was and is retarded version HTML.
Now, anyone can remind me release date of HTML5?

I'm just going to keep using XHTML, at my level of non celebrity designer status, it really makes no difference to my clients who just want their sites working in 58 browsers and to return decent search engine results.

What a can of worms that post is going to be.
I was thinking about this the other day as I am going to try to move over to a more POSH way of working and while it supports XHTML, I think I am going to try and keep it HTML4. As I might not even live to see full adoption of HTML 5, XHTML 2.
