OK I see everyone here has a linkedin profile, but how many of you have actually landed gigs from it? Looks like only a few.
Is it worth pimping out my linkedin page? I have one but I only spent like 2 minutes setting it up and I think I have 1 or 2 contacts. If it's working for people I'd definitely be willing to put in more time.
- I have... many gigs.GetRefresh
- it helped me get the job that im at now - ive never gotten freelance from itmegE
- I always check people out on Linkedin before I meet them or interview them.kezza_2

I have hardly touched my LinkedIn page since apaprently signing up in 2006... I have no recollection of doing that, but lately it started sending me emails and a couple of people off QBN tried to Link me up so I decided to go along and have a looksy.
I tracked down a former colleague of mine from fashion and almost secured some freelance design work for his menswear label but then he had to travel to the far east and we've been missing each other ever since.
But potentially, its a gig if I want it.
Othe rthan that though I'm probably not in the right line of work for such a place. I would imagine that interactive designers and creatives will see a lot of stuff flitting about, wheras if one needs an illustrator its generally best to check the kerbs in built up areas.

i have landed jobs from linkedin and find it valuable. i am just not crazy about all the recruiters asking to be added since it makes me feel bad

I've totally pimped out my profile. Just finished today with a photo (you'd think I'd have better pix of myself, but no...)
I've gotten 5 recommendations from LinkedIn, but no clients... although I've been using it to stay on the radar of a former client who's now working for a major credit card company. Could turn into something.
For those who've gotten new clients via linkedin, do they simply find you or do you muck about in some of the forums over there?
- they normally find you - do you have recommendations?pixellette
- Yes, I have five, a couple of which were particularly nice.Scotch_Roman
- nice! :)pixellette

are you all seriously adding each other as contacts? i mean cool if your actually connected. but i don't think whoring yourself around linkedin is gonna help anybody. quality over quantity. correct me if im wrong, not trying to be a dick.
- Nothing wrong with building as large a network as possible...Scotch_Roman
- I can always ignore people that I wouldn't want to work with.Scotch_Roman
