Hi there,
I have a question, that i hope you guy's know the answer...
I have on my file, many path layers, and what i want is to transform all the path Layers to New Layers.
The way that i do it now is, Collecting the Path layer to a New layer ("Collect in The Layer").
If i have a doc with 100 Path layers i'm f%$&$%#I was searching on Keyboard Shortcuts but i counld't find any...
Thks for any help, have a nice day

you can select each individual layer and group them, then select all layers and then group them into 1 layer, then ungroup it to keep the original path layers intact...
- dyspl0
what's "path layer"?
- i think he means he has multiple layers with different paths created in each.. i was confused too!!e-pill
- this confused me as well.rodzilla
- ah ok. I didn't see having many "path layer" as a problem, you have one each time you make a independent shape no?dyspl
- mainly using illustrator for logos and illustrations for serigraphy, I end up with one shape per colour . so during the creative process, i don't mind the amount of layer :)dyspl

that's right e-pill... i will try explain better...
I have layer 1 and inside that layer a have the <path> that was maded by the pen tool...
The thing is i want to import the eps to After Effects and the path layers don't appear separately.
#e-pill - thks for the tip, but i don't want the path but only the "Rasterize"
- e-pill0
you can also "show/hide" the paths you dont want moved using [ 3] by hiding the paths, then select the rasterized layer and move it to after effects...
i think..if horton comes in here he will know the right way to get it done. he is by far the strongest in illustrator of any of us here with knowledge.
- yeah but i dont wanna to Rasterize all the layers, i wanna them separately to animate on AEMasterramos
- yes, this way you can separate the paths you want from the raster art by hiding the paths.e-pill
- once hidden you can move the raster to the new layer and do your magic in after effects.e-pill

Not sure I still understand what you mean, but can't you do pathfind on each element you want to use as a single object, and then put each object on separated layer?
take some time, but then your file should be clean and ready for use in after effect.- well, won't work if your illustration is too complex...
dyspl - yeah, that is what i means... i have some EPS files that comes with about a 100 path's layers inclueded on one single layerMasterramos
- and becomes to being a fuc*** jobMasterramos
- hehe, the job can't be fun all the time. I also have to reduce shapes on the tshirt illustration is ok.... i'd say tricky, but not so boring after all.dyspl
- ..boring after all.dyspl
- well, won't work if your illustration is too complex...

oooooohhhh...I get it
Those <Path> "layers" aren't really true layers, they're just objects that live within a layer or even a group.
What you're doing is probably the only way to do it.
- yes you got it.e-pill
- Yeah... holy crap that must be any shortcut or any "script" to do this...Masterramos
- dyspl0
would you mind sending your file? would be easier to see if I can give some help.
- Masterramos0
thks for the help guys... Forward to horton.... let's see if he can help
- ha. crazy jinx. i had no idea you posted this when i replied.horton

you're confusing <paths> with layers in the layers palette... "<path>" does not equal a layer.
that said, in your layer palette, if you highlight the layer with all the <paths> and select "release to layers (sequence" they should create themselves a layer each.
- dyspl0
got it.
what I would do :
1) copy paste the whole artwork (keep the original artwork in place it will be usefull for steps further).
2)make a pathfinder between the mask and the rectangle, without worring about the gradient.
3/once every pathfinder are done, redo gradient on each using Shift with the colour pick and click on each extremity of the gradients on original artwork rectangles.
put each rectangle on a separated layer, and you should be fine.I hope this helps.

- ...ego gets very large!!!
:Pe-pill - no i'm not comfortable with all this. i just happened to log in at the right time. didn''t see your ref.horton

- Masterramos0
i wanna thk's to all QBN'rs
- dyspl0
oooh great horton! I never played with that option.
@masterramos; how the layer react once they are in AE? is the fact there are mask and transparancy ok?
-I don't do motion, it's just about curiosity :)
- Masterramos0
@dyspl; the 41% transparancy of the layer when importeded to AE was by 100%. The mask remains the same with no problem at all...
