Are they now considered a safe/standard web font(s)? Are they installed on virtually every Mac/PC? Sorry if that's a stupid question, I'm still side-stepping from print to web and back again.

I suppose I'm interested in how sites like this display on PC:

Yeah I have that bookmarked but is it pretty reliable? i just wanted to hear from some of the experts on here, and really get an idea of whether it's considered a yay/nay font.

I guess it depends on your demographic, personally i would stay away from using it for body, and use arial/helvetica/garamond, and sifr for headlines/maybe menu.
- helvetica and garamond is web stanard font!? do you know what you are talking about?typist
- wow, i meant georgia, helvetica for mac, arial for windowsattentionspan

Although Vista comes packaged with Lucida Sans and Lucida Console (?) I'm pretty sure xp didn't. I wouldn't bank on PC machines having it installed yet.

XP has Lucida, you have reference it as Lucida Sans Unicode I believe, but it looks like shit on PC. Take Arial :(

Whilst I have the Lucida family on my machine, I can't really discern them in that Mac page you posted up^there. That's not to say it's not showing - it may just be that I can't tell it from the other relatively generic standard web fonts.

The headings just look like Verdana to me. XP.

Just had a look in DW...
font-family:"Lucida Sans Unicode", "Lucida Grande", sans-serifSeemed to work locally, maybe if you include that first one...

Well, given that this is for an African business/social networking site I guess I'll stick with Verdana. I'm bored as shit with Verdana though :(
