There's a reason why people pay extra: the operating system works, always works, and always has. Apple hasn't had to create new OS releases to correct the giant basket of errors and faults of a previous one; they create a new OS to give users even more useful features, and improve upon an already wonderful product.
Microsoft gave the world Vista; something most users struggle with, something most users don't want if they know what's good for them.

I have to agree..
here in california you can see a lot of college kids that have no intention to use their computers other than myspace and word are choosing apple, and I think a lot of that is based purely on the logo.The mac air is the perfect example of that, the most ridicule overpriced computer on the market, and people still buy it.
so while I don't agree the only difference is "the apple logo" I do agree, a lot (maybe most) of the recent sales are a reaction to amazing marketing and impeccable image apple has gained.

There are really sweet things in Mac, Windows and Linux. Whenever I use either of them, I keep wishing someone would incorporate all of those nice things into a single beautiful Macwinux.

Ive got a friend who has had an old pc for years, and is just about to buy a mac. He has no intention of using it for anything professional - so mainly pirating movies, myspace, etc. When I asked him why is he only considering mac, he just spits out random excuses that really make no logic his decision.
He is like a marketer's wet dream. He doesn't understand there are people out there (marketing) who's job it is to find people like him and make their decisions for them. I watch this guy buy shit like $4 Sobe nrg drinks and I see that his decision was really only based on the label design. haha.
I'm not ripping on apple or anything, just sayin.

Yeah, not looking to start a fight about whether Mac, PC or Linux is better and who invented what. I just thought it was kind of funny that the CEO of the world's biggest software company can reduce the difference in design to a logo.
