Meeklo,
I sorta I agree that in the end someone else will do it for that price... but one less person doing it for that price is beneficial. We need designers/posers to be on our side and understand that the cost of those services should be fair.
All we can do is give the client clues that those prices are not right. They won't get it at first, but maybe if they encounter a handfull of designers over a 2 year period that want a "fair" value for their work, maybe they'll start getting it.

I understand, but I think there are clients and projects for everyone.
Its like photo cameras, while today everyone likes to shoot (myself included) not all of us need the latest hasselblad to do it. Some people are happy with a disposable camera and that is all they will pay for.
Imagine if you could only buy top of the line cameras and none of them will go under 15 grand?
There will be a lot less interest in photography, a lot less examples, a lot less awareness, etc. We need the disposable camera tourist photographer in order to appreciate and value professional photography.I think it will end up hurting the industry more if no one ever on any part of the planet will do a logo for under 2 grand. that if the untrained/ unexperienced eye gave it a try for pennies.
whatever happen to "you get what you paid for?"
- Meeklo0
that phrase will only make sense if there are cheap designers out there doing crappy jobs for little or no money.
right?
- But, have we decided that a similar wage to McDonalds is the in the lower end of design?
VectorMasked - Why not force respect and decide that what's considered 'bad/amateurish" should anyway come with a higher costVectorMasked

anything under 1000 is a waste of time! 5 concepts??? gosh

Well meet him half way, I think that is reasonable. And cut the concepts down to 3 instead of 5.
- coco_ono0
yeah, sounds like he really wants a logo! but you said you didn't have time, so... :\ ...refer him to somebody else? give it to a student, they'll do it for cheap.

A lot of you fools on here that say things like - no you will screw the rest of us - 5 logo concepts for a grand? YOU IDIOTS need to get the graphic design guild.
Some of you fags think you're design gods. Get over yourself.

I'm sick and tired about theories, loose words, "communication", "information hierarchy". LOL. Design practice is like plumbing, except plumbing pays better and you get a free shower when the concept goes wrong.

you already made yourself not very credible by offering it for only 380, the guy must have thought, "oh, he doesn't believe he is good, why not make that number nice and round, say 250.. he'd be happy to get the job at all"...
- rodzilla0
I battle with this all of the time. What if the person is just starting out and does not have the funds to fork out 2 or 3k?
People are always going to want something for nothing, especially when they are just starting out.
Do you let it go and let someone else do it, for cheap so that we have another logo design to make fun of?
- CALLES0
we will trade logo for pics
- Corvo20
Let's get one thing straight:
How much would YOU be willing to pay for the next guy's logotype?
- jgrillo0
DOOOOD
unless your willing to work for nothing and bust your ass to make it great, and you know they are going to love it.
don't do it. Your just getting yourself into a frustrating situation where they either they wont be happy or you won't be happy. Either way someone isn't happy.
