turning in your man card?
- hitsuji0
yes resignation. i hate it, because you can just run away after you've done it haha

Had to do it several times, never easy...unless your boss is a total prick and your workplace sucks.

In this economy?
Unless you're Bruce Mau, I would have another job lined up...
It's nuclear winter out there, son.
- yeah i know. i've got a job to go to (not design) but i need to get out this shit hole.hitsuji

Unless you can answer YES to one, if not both, of the following statements, you would be a complete moron to quit your job right now.
a) The job I am leaving for has been guaranteed in a contract that has been signed in my new employer's blood.
b) The new job is with a family member that I have something incredible to hold over his/her head that would involve major public humiliation, ridicule and possible jail time.
If you can't, then I'd really reconsider.
I just spoke with a client of mine at a major furniture company and starting tomorrow, they are going to be having a mandatory 2 Friday / month furlow. They are closing their doors to employees, unpaid of course. They also have a 10% pay cut.
Rethink my disgruntled QBNer. ReThink.
- umm, wouldn't the 10% pay cut be in direct result of the 2 friday furlow?lvl_13
- The guy said he has another job. Also there are jobs out there - look at any job board and you will see.ukit
- I've seen a lot of jobs posted for jobs that aren't available. Be careful. A lot of companies gather cv's in the case something opens, not because something is open.The_CCG

Yeah I really regret telling the peanut gallery here back in December that my boss wasn't paying me enough to make ends meet. This is true, but hell... I should've just quietly pulled in some freelance.
About a month ago I basically got forced out, under the pretense that I was being given the wings I needed to make my next move.
- so that's how it went down. man, that is some bullshit.lvl_13
- Yup, I got snooped.Scotch_Roman
- ouch.lvl_13
- so he found out about your posting?

You should also be sure to update your facebook, twitter, myspace and any other social networking crap with your latest set of career related reservations and complaints. Nobody reads that crap.

Is it worse to be sacked or quit? because I have to choose. They want me to all of a sudden know everything about PHP and mySQL which I have barely any knowledge in or have any interest in but I have 4 weeks to know all that shit. I've also got to sort out all these legal issues with Paypal that I have no idea how to and no one will help me with, even Paypal are making it difficult. But just because it's on a computer, it's my job. So I'm just trying to decide whether i should quit before I'm sacked?!

I have been laid off, fired and "given wings to move on with 2+ months salary". I have also quit. Quitting is far more satisfying, since there's no humiliation involved.

Do what I did, wait till the boss is leaving the building and say '..... this is for you' and hand a letter with one sentence written on it.
'Dear ......., this is my letter of resignation giving you one months notice from ... to....'People told me I was very rude and a bit weird for the way I resigned but I had no idea how to do it.
- hitsuji0
I'm just wondering what looks worse on your CV?
- being fired, of course. Especially when you've got nothing else lined up.Scotch_Roman
- fired, obviously.lvl_13
- fired of course, unless the place is somewhere like The Arnell Group.The_CCG
