Ha, even if I was shady enough to rip a potential employer, it wouldn't be these guys... not only do they do good work, but they're super nice people. I'd throttle a rhinoceros to work there.
It's nothing against them that I've waited this long, I have no idea what they've got on their plates right now... I'm just impatient and wanted a bit of advice :)
If they don't return my call today, I'll send them a link to my new website on Monday as a subtle little reminder. ;)

- Oh I know. I said that for *their* benefit, in case they're reading. :)Scotch_Roman

Scotch_Roman: what I meant was the person hiring may get side tracked and move onto other things before the position is filled so it is a good thing to call. Definitely!

sounds like a good idea. i hope you get it.

The truth is, you'll always leave an interview knowing if you got the job or not. Sounds like they're just trying to spare themselves the pain of having to say you didn't get it. Move on.
- That hasn't always been my experience before.Scotch_Roman

That's just the thing though. I totally thought I nailed it. I was there for an hour and a half, we even got to the point of talking money. They were visibly impressed with my work. I interviewed with the whole senior team and had a very good vibe about it.
- I did note that my asking price was only $2k below their upper limit. I'm totally flexible tho.Scotch_Roman

didn't read through all of this, but did you only have one interview?
seems like they would at least have you in a couple times before making a decision...
- Scotch_Roman0
I did only have one interview, but it was with both owners and the entire senior team. After showing my work and talking extensively with them about their operation, I sat down again with one of the owners and talked about salary/benefits. In my experience, that's second or third interview-level stuff. So I don't know why they'd want to bring me in again at this point.
- I went on tons of interviews and alot seemed great but alot did not call me back. I did get one though but after many interviews. Good luck I hope you DO get it.redant
- that could be the case. it just seems like often times they will bring you in more than once.lvl_13
- interviews. Good luck I hope you get it!!redant
- yes, good luck by the way. i didn't mean to sound discouraging :)lvl_13

if you don't hear anything after 6 months - you probably didn't get it
- haha, um... I think you might be onto something.Scotch_Roman
- Srsly tho, I wonder if the worsening economy is a complicating factor for them.Scotch_Roman
- I guess it's pointless to speculate though.Scotch_Roman

call them. playing hard to get with a job is a bad idea. they don't care. and in my experience with hiring people, many many things can get in the way, so it can take time. it doesn't always mean they don't want you, but sometimes it does.
call them.
- I did, left a voice message. Will follow up w/ email on Monday.Scotch_Roman

What was your asking salary?
- $2k less than the national average (per AIGA) for a designer at my level.Scotch_Roman
- ...which according to them is $2k less than their maximum. They seemed to think it was reasonable.Scotch_Roman
- I've just been wondering if someone as good/better than me asked for less.Scotch_Roman

as far as the questioning went it sounds like that company likes to fuck on the first date. that happens sometimes
- Scotch_Roman0
Several years ago, I had a CD tell me he would absolutely love to hire me, and wanted me to start soon. Couple days later, the principal of the company said no freakin way.
- so YOU made the stinky mess!
orangecrunch - This was when I wore cologne more often.Scotch_Roman
