Working on a new tat for myself. My son will be born within about a month, and I've always wanted to change up an existing tattoo I have when i have a child. His name will be Aton, after an egyptian sun god. Here's what I've got so far:
Any opinions on the art?
Oh, here is the symbol for aton it is loosely based on:

why three arms? Have it just black and white.

I feel awkward giving honest opinions on tattoos that are about family or personal things.
Is the arms coming out of the sun supposed to represent birth?

the fold at the elbow looks odd. maybe sketch in the brachial tendon?
also need to fix the lump on the outside of the arm. That's all bone there(ulna), and should be smooth and straight.pay attention to anatomy now, cause you can't fix it later.

no thx.
i've never understood why people try to design their own ink... i'd find the tattoo artist with style i like, perhaps give them an idea and then have them create the image with their own personal flair.
but then, i don't have any tattoos, so what do i know.

give the idea to your tattoo artist, I would cringe if I saw that on someone's arm.

I agree with doesnotexist. Do not design your own tattoo. You are not a tattoo artist. Leave it to the professionals. Give him / her the idea, and let them work it for you.

I'm concerned for your wife, having to give birth to a ton.
Prediction: Some severe loose vag is in your future, my friend.

To further my (our) point, designing your own tattoo is like hanging your own art on the walls. I guarantee you that looking at it every day, day in, day out, while your abilities and style progress over time will make you completely sick of it after about 3 months, and of course, with a tattoo, it's not like you can just make it go away.
Consult a tattoo artist who's style you really respect. They'll make you something that you can live with for the rest of your life.

whats with the ankh

i agree with those above. find a tattooist you really like. go crazy with your idea. the more you bring to your artist the better idea they'll have of what you really want.
on my last piece i brought my guy almost a mood board of images so that i could fully visualize what i wanted. he took that and did a completely custom tattoo for me.

yeah, im bartering with a tattoo artist, a site for tats
i normally come up with the concept and sketch it out, then let him have it from there, just havent gotten to that stage yet

Lose the tree, the real looking arms, couds. Too much going on and I'm not digging the graphics either. I would get just the sun and the hands from the original.

what the fuck?? did you just throw together a randomised bunch of clip-art??
looks like shit dude.

joining the masons are we?
thats what it looks like - some kind of secret society/illuminatus kind of symbolism.personally i think it looks rediculous - like some monty python animation sketch gone wrong.
i'd do what others are suggesting and talk through your idea with a tattoo guy and see if he (or she) can come up with something a bit more stylised and acceptable lol.
If its a personal tattoo then why are you asking for our opinions?
Thats like saying "will i be cool if i get this?"
if its special to you then you'd get it anyway regardless of whether us lot thought it was pants or not.

why does people tattoo some ugly weird random crap to celebrate something? get pissed
