I've been looking online and i can't find any programs that offer xhtml, css and flash

why pay someone to teach you those when you can learn them yourself?

^ I'm affraid i might miss something if I teach myself, and I want to do a great job and learn everything I need to. I just feel school would be a more secure way, but from the reviews I've read the schools do seem like a waste of time and money.

Carnegie Mellon is ramping up their design program for interaction work. While it's still called "Communication Design" and the first year focuses more on Graphic fundementals, I understand the later years are very interative focused.

I taught an introduction to interactive design class at Yale last summer with Julian. Very intro. Code-wise we started with just a plain text editor and a browser to do some HTML. (Eventually up to structured logic and PHP.) Typography-wise we did readings on letterform, hierarchy, and grid—mostly Swiss and Dutch of course. History-wise we read / talked about Vannevar Bush, Engelbart, etc, and touched on some demo scene themes.
Some of the early code demos and PDFs are still on the Yale website, maybe they'd be helpful? :

Forgot to mention, our class didn't require any previous coding experience. They learned as we went along. Our crits dealt with coding/construction techniques, yes, but even the source code was viewed through the lens of graphic design. (Better typeset code allows everyone to learn from what you've produced and makes it easier to catch bugs!) Bottom-line, it was a design class.
