Do I kindly point out that their target consumer are adults with young children? Technically young children with the advertisements, but ultimately they don't buy the cereal.
Yes Michael Phelps is quite possibly the greatest Olympian ever, however, not exactly the role model of the target consumer when he is getting his smoke on... I mean, I don't have kids but I wouldn't want them to think I'm okay with them smoking weed. To be honest, I don't give a flying fuck if he smokes weed or not, but from a business standpoint it just makes sense.

Kellog's did the right thing. I'm so tired of hearing "He's only human", "so what, he made a mistake". This dude had a DUI in 2004, now he gets caught smokin weed... and you're upset because he lost on of several very lucrative contracts? There's people out there in this world that lose jobs, families and/or are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for DUI charges and smoking weed. He's getting off easy. His life will continue to be lovely, he'll keep banging hot chicks after swim meets, he'll count his remaining million dollar stacks when he gets home, he'll be back in the 2012 Olympics.

Kellogg's wanted to dump that fucker anyway, because he wasn't very popular (since no one likes him). And they aren't actually dumping him--it's not like they're ripping up his contract, and stopping payment on all the checks. They just aren't going to <strong><em>renew </em></strong>his contract, which is up in 3 weeks.

The tragic part is someone took the photo knowing they could sell it to the press for who knows how much, cause his Michael Philps. The fact that someone would do such a thing for their own monetary gain, knowing (unless you're completely ignorant) that it would be a crush to his image, makes me sick. Stupid on his part for smoking around people he can't trust.
I also agree with everyone saying who gives a shit. Much larger issues going to focus energy on then some guy who swims and smokes a little pot.

fuck this is some media publicity bs, if this wasn't intended on being released to the pubnlic and made a big deal out of with his sponsors then it never would have been released. media and big business works that way, cnn and basiclaly any major media outlet wouldn't have touched it if there wasn't some alternate agenda going on.
