I'd be remiss if I didn't pass along this web site to anyone who may have recently bought HDMI cables or is buying any soon.

I just spent $160 on two cables earlier in the week in anticipation of my new tv being delivered. The next day a coworker who knew I'd bought one showed me this site.
Got two six foot cables for $20 total. Read the reviews. Don't fall for Monster cable and their marvelous marketing scam and product packaging. The prices at monoprice for longer length cables are incredible.
Anyhow, just want everyone to know about this site. I'm taking back the Best Buy cables and smiling when I do so.

I seriously can't believe (well, I can) the different in price. As my coworker said, it ought to be against the law for a store like that to sell cables for what they do.
That monoprice site also has great prices on optical audio cables as well. If you were setting up a home theater and wiring in the walls and stuff, the prices for that stuff are even better. I can't imaging what Best Buy would sell a $25 HDMI cable for. Probably $200

that's nuts i never knew they were so expensive in some places!
when i bought both my TVs i made them throw in the HDMI cables for free (some $20 or $30 cable of decent enough length)

monoprice is awesome. If people are stupid enough to spend upwards of 100 bucks on a 6 foot cable meant to carry a digital signal then I say the big box stores / monster cable should take advantage of that.

Monster cable is the biggest ripoff on the planet. I read a funny article by the ceo trying to justify their prices. A comment below it said:
Dude, digital is digital you fucking huckster.

I agree. I could not tell a difference from $10 cable to $200.

The cable racket is pretty bad...it sucks when you shell out $$$ for that PS3 and then they try to fuck you with a $70 cable.
Monster Cable, eat a dick. Monoprice (and many other cheap chinese manufacturers) are perfectly acceptable.

I got a plasma and PS3 for Christmas (it was a good year...) and because she didn't realize I would need one, at the last minute my wife picked up a $60+ 4 foot cable that I used for a week until my Monoprice order arrived. :)
