Dark Knight could be in best film.
Its a arrogant smugness of high brow film lover that looks down on the action film genre. But in a lot of ways Dark Knight is much stronger than all those 'introvert character studies'.

I thought Benjamin Butts was good.

Milk wasn't mind blowing, but the best offering this year by far. I can not believe Button got nominated for so much... that film is a "meh" film through and through. How can Pitt get the nod when his fucking New Orleans accent wavers in and out the whole time?
I'm glad all of Doubt's main actors got nods, it was the best acted film of the year. Also, Synedoche NY needed to get a nod for writing, wtf?

quamb, don't be naive, no one starts a project thinking i'm not feeling it, or i'm not inspired, or i'm not understanding the material. You always come in with 110% of energy but at some point you have to step back and face the reality and be "oh, fuck me, i screwed up." That shit doesn't happen way into production, or even post-production. ...Or ever as is the case with the recent Star Wars films.
- I'm not being naive... And yes, I've been in the same situation before. Though just don't see it with Button.quamb

Maybe we should focus on this instead:

"Milk" was the only one on the list I saw, and I found it decently entertaining.
But then again, I also shed a tear watching "Maid In New York", so I'm probably not the most qualified to share my opinion in this thread.

(I've never handed out dutch milkshakes to skanky script supervisors or craft services chicks either, so I may have been disqualified right from the start).

for someone that didn't care about his shoot, it's odd that i wasn't allowed to crop, adjust, colour, or in any way tamper with any of the unit photography. my impression was that fincher invested a lot of himself in that film and the end result, visually at least, was exactly what he was looking to acheive.
but again, i'm not a film maker, so probably don't understand.

Surprised?
(I disagree with you though)

Oh come on:
* “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” (Paramount and Warner Bros.)
* “Frost/Nixon” (Universal)
* “Milk” (Focus Features)
* “The Reader” (The Weinstein Company)
* “Slumdog Millionaire” (Fox Searchlight)Which one of those was any good? I don't know maybe i'm stuck in the film world so it simple shit doesn't really impresses me but even if i wasn't those are all subpar, very, very average productions.

Well, even last year we had "No Country for Old Men" and "There Will Be Blood" both films that were more then just run-of-the-mill directing exercises as the films of thsi year.

"Slumdog", "Milk" and "Frost/Nixon" - all very good. Shame on them for leaving out "The Dark Knight", "The Visitor", "The Wrestler", or"Rachel Getting Married."
- pr2-3
With some of the titles i don't even have a desire to watch any of it.
Before you even watch "No Country for Old Men" and "There Will Be Blood" there is already some poetry with the title. ..."Rachel Getting Married" or "The Dark Knight"... i mean wtf?
