I really hope Robert Downey Jr wins Best Supporting Actor ... he was so fucking good in Tropic Thunder, hahaha.

I fucking lose it just thinking about his one facial expression when he's talking to Jay Baruchel in the jungle after Alpo goes to sleep, fuck. I can't remember what they were talking about ... but I almost puked from laughing so hard.

Ok, since no one else is saying it I'll say it: SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE is way overrated. Its just a well done Bollywood film. But Best Picture the entire year? No way.

I do agree that it's slightly overrated. But still an awesome film. One of the best of the year, for sure.

To be honest, the premise for the movie and all the hoopla around it has kind of made me not want to ever watch it.

    Best Picture Noms:
Gran Torino (I feel Dark Knight deserves it more, but the old timers in the academy love clint)
    Revolutionary Road
    Slumdog Millionaire
    Frost/Nixon
    Benjamin Button

    Best Actor:
    Sean Penn
    Clint Eastwood (winner)
    Frank Langella
    Mickey Rourke

    Best Actress:
    Kate Winslett (winner)
    Cate Blanchet
    Ann Hathaway
    Sally Hawkins (happy go lucky)

    Best Supporting Actor:
    Heath Ledger (winner)
Michael Shannon (Crazy Dude from Revolutionary Road may take the prize)

    Best Original Screenplay:
    Gran Torino
    The Wrestler
Vicki Christina Barcelona (actually one of my favs of 2008)
    Burn After Reading
Slumdog Millionaire (winner - this award always goes to the best picture that should have won Best Picture that year, but the Academy is too chicken shit to vote on independents- i.e. Sideways in '05, Lil Miss Sunshine in '06, Juno in '07, etc.)

    Best Adapted Screenplay:
    Frost/Nixon (winner)
The Dark Knight (Nolan should win, but Peter Morgan has been passed up far too many times and he's bout due)
    Revolutionary Road

    Best Animated Feature:
    Wall E

    Best Foreign Film:
    Mongol

    Best Documentary Feature:
    Man On Wire

    Best Cinematography:
One of Roger Deakins' films (surprisingly has yet to win): The Reader, Doubt, Revolutionary Road (all Rudin films)

    Best Score:
Revolutionary Road (Tom Newman- also did WALL E & American Beauty among many others)

*I think Dark Knight may rack up the most awards (overall total) with the smaller awards- i.e. effects, music editing, music composition, sound, technical editing, etc.
